BirdDog Play Reset Process


Resetting a BirdDog Play NDI decoder can be a very involved process.

Please reference this link when attempting to reset the device:

NOTE: Please read and follow the posted instructions carefully. Failure to do so may render the device bricked and unrecoverable.

Below are the contents of the BirdDog Article as of 4/22/2025.

Procedure

1.     Navigate to your downloaded files and double click on DriverAssistant_4.5/DriverInstall.exe. When prompted to extract files, make sure to choose a file location you can access easily, such as the desktop.


2.     Click the Install Driver button. Click the OK button when complete.

            

3.     Navigate to and double click on AndroidTool_Release/AndroidTool.exe

            

The updater interface is displayed. The interface may take a minute to load.

            
4.    Select the Upgrade Firmware tab.
            

5.     Insert a suitable tool into the audio port (paper clip) and press and hold the reset button while connecting the PLAY to the Windows PC using the USB-C cable. There may be a light click when the button is pressed. When successfully connected the text at the bottom will read "Found One LOADER Device". If the text reads No Devises Found, unplug the Play and try this step again. Once the program detects the Play, the reset button can be released.


            

6.     Click the Firmware button and navigate to your downloaded PLAY_xxx.img file.

            
7.   Click the Upgrade button and wait for the process to finish.
            

8.     Remove the USB-C cable from the BirdDog PLAY to reboot the device.

9.  The BirdDog firmware is correctly installed when the System Name displays “birddog - (the last 5 digits of the PLAY MAC address)”.

           

10.  The OS update process is now completeIf the Play is still exhibiting symptoms, please contact Help@BirdDog.tv for further assistance.
